about

We are proud to present The Perception of Loss (and other forest findings)!

Tobias: "I wanted to write a piece of music which demanded more focus and dedication from the listener. I tried to work as intuitive as possible. So, no more endless reworking on beats and chords. No more rerecording what I already produced. No more reiterating what I created weeks ago. Just a raw and spontaneous production. I learned that a simple but hypnotic bassline could form a perfect base for fragmented beats and vocals. What more do you need? Well, an overwhelming guitar wall of sound that leaves no room for distraction at all. Or maybe a stroll through an organic sounding landscape interchanged with orchestral melodies and rough beats."

Marianne: "I can not find a better use for the mental chatter in my head. I often have these conversations with myself and since I was looking for a way to catch more intuitive vocals, my voice as it is, I was inspired to write one of these down and to just chat into the microphone. I was less unfamiliar with spoken word than I thought, it felt quite natural. I just feel a bit naked sharing it with an audience."

The song is about how the change of perception can lighten the heaviness of loss. Time is a healer, but sometimes there are ways to heal yourself. It's also about adopting certain beliefs in the search for a (quick) cure. Like the belief that all answers are to be found in nature.

Do you fool yourself by doing so? Does it even matter? Or does the ending justify the means?

The Perception of Loss (and other forest findings)

If only I could tell you about the way it all flows
I could you about the way we move along, about the way we die

You said to me ,,this is what you want”
That this is what I want…
I think it’s more like: I’m finding out how to perceive things as they appear,
grasp them when they appear
Which doesn’t involve sitting back, waiting for the magic to happen,
but having a clear mind
Acting naturally
Doing by not-doing

I started thinking about The Way, the order of it all
And how we move from/with all with and without a heart
This could be another trick of the conceptual-thinking mind

I love the thought of that
Guess there are just too
Just too many words

This is when I go…

He said to me ,,this is what you want”
This is what I want

This is what I am

I started thinking about The Way, the order of it all
And how we move from/with all with and without a heart
This could be another trick of my conceptual thinking-mind
that wants to accept the unconventional way
I love the thought of that

I guess that's the reason why I started reading about The Way.
And the order of nature.
And how we move from and with everything and everyone,
the natural, playful way
Yeah it could be a trick of my conceptual thinking-mind to accept
he easy way or the fast way…
but at least it gave me this insight:
I’ve come to experience that in the end,
when all turns quiet,
there’s beginning
by creation
